NorCal Cannabis Company has developed and shaped the legal cannabis industry since 2015.  We have quietly become one of the best funded and largest vertically-integrated cannabis companies in California, with much more on the horizon in 2019.  2019 will mark our “coming out” moment as we begin introducing retail and product experiences that will lead, legitimize and broaden cannabis culture in California and beyond.  Put simply, we are going to redefine the term high growth.

Position Description

As Director of Corporate Development, you will source, evaluate, structure and execute mergers and acquisitions and develop strategic partnerships.  Unlike typical Corporate Development roles, you will also support the capital markets and financing strategy of NorCal Cannabis Company.  You will be called upon to support the Senior Leadership team as it seeks to extend NorCal Cannabis Company’s position as the best funded California focused cannabis company. You will work cross-functionally with business leaders both internally and externally to develop initiatives and strategies that support our growth and vision to be amongst the leading vertically integrated cannabis companies in the world.

Specific Responsibilities and Tasks

  • Be responsible for the end-to-end acquisition (M&A) process in conjunction with senior management team including strategic fit, business assessment, due diligence, valuation, contract negotiation and integration
  • Create a detailed landscape of new growth and acquisition opportunities and prepare reports and analysis analyzing these opportunities
  • Present strategic recommendations including acquisition business cases and valuation analyses to senior management
  • Structure joint ventures and strategic partnerships that add value for NorCal Cannabis Company
  • Oversee detailed financial modelling and presentations that support our financing goals and acquisitions
  • Oversee and manage the investor due diligence process that support our financing goals
  • Be a trusted voice in shaping the strategic direction of NorCal Cannabis Company in conjunction with senior management
  • Drive strategic projects and initiatives

Requirements for this role include:

  • 5+ years of relevant experience including a combination of corporate development, consulting, investment banking, private equity, venture capital, and/or corporate law firm experience.
  • 1+ years of relevant experience in the cannabis sector will be preferred but not a requirement
  • Extremely strong financial modelling and presentation skills
  • Experience closing M&A and debt / equity financing transactions
  • Bachelor’s degree required
  • Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment
  • Excellent oral and written communication
